Zeffy provides the fastest online donation and tax-receipt experience. The following approved methods are also available for donors who prefer another way to give.
Interac e-Transfer
Send your e-transfer to donate [at] halalfoodbank [dot] ca. In the message field, include your full name, complete mailing address and valid email address. Please also include a phone number in case the food bank needs to contact you about the donation or tax receipt.
Manually generated receipts are generally issued beginning in February of the following year. An urgent receipt may be requested when needed. For an automatic receipt shortly after donating, please use one of the Zeffy online donation options.
PayPal
PayPal remains available as a secondary online donation option for donors who prefer to use that platform.
Cheque
Make cheques payable to Halal Food Bank Canada and mail them to:

For a tax receipt, include the donor’s full name and complete mailing address. An email address and phone number are also requested in case the food bank needs to contact you about the donation or receipt.

Information for Your Charitable Tax Receipt
Zeffy automatically sends tax receipts (to your email provided in the donation form) after eligible online donations when the donor provides the required information. Donations made by e-transfer or cheque require the donor’s full legal name and complete mailing address. A valid email address and phone number should also be provided so the food bank can send the receipt or resolve any related questions.
Manual receipts for the donation year are generally issued beginning in February of the following year. Donors who require a receipt sooner may contact Halal Food Bank Canada. Official charitable tax receipts are issued for eligible donations in accordance with applicable requirements.

Which online donation platform does Halal Food Bank Canada use?
Zeffy is the primary online donation platform. Separate Zeffy forms are available for General Giving, Zakat and Sadaqah. Donations can also be sent via e-transfer to donate [at] halalfoodbank [dot] ca and by using the PayPal link given above.
Why does Zeffy ask for an additional contribution?
At Halal Food Bank, we want every donor to have a clear and transparent giving experience. We use Zeffy, a donation platform that allows us to receive 100% of your intended donation without incurring any processing fees. To keep its services free for charities, Zeffy offers donors the option to make a separate voluntary contribution to support its platform.
Zeffy may suggest an additional contribution during checkout. This contribution is entirely optional and does not go to Halal Food Bank. If you wish to donate only to Halal Food Bank, simply select “Other” under the Zeffy contribution option and enter $0. We encourage you to review your final payment total before completing your donation to ensure it matches the amount you wish to give.
Can I make a recurring monthly donation?
Yes. The General Giving, Zakat and Sadaqah Zeffy forms provide both one-time and recurring donation options.
Will Zeffy send my tax receipt?
Zeffy automatically sends a tax receipt after an eligible donation when the donor provides the required information.
Can I still donate through PayPal?
Yes. PayPal remains available as a secondary online donation method.
How do I receive a receipt for an e-transfer or cheque?
Please provide your full name, complete mailing address and valid email address in the message section of the Interac e-Transfer or, for cheques, simply write this information on the back of the cheque.
When are manually prepared receipts issued?
Manual receipts are generally issued beginning in February of the year following the donation. An urgent receipt may be requested when needed.
How can I arrange a wire transfer?

Can I donate food or essential items instead of money?
